Artist Statement
This painting is about the vivid colors one can see on a sunny day in
the Spring in Southern California. The early California landscape
painters were mocked by East Coast critics for their use of bright
colors. I take pleasure in pushing the brilliance of watercolors to the
edge of gaudiness( and hopefully not all the way there) to express this
glowing place.
