2nd Annual Kern County Plein Air Painting Festival, April 5 to 9
I am busy getting ready for this event in April. I am hoping the weather holds and there are some wildflowers still in bloom. Last year we got to paint at the Kern River and Tejon Ranch and Wind Wolves preserve.
Here are a few of the paintings from 2015.

A note on presentation.
These exhibits are generally filled with oil paintings. I try to be respectful of the challenges of hanging a diverse exhibit of still lives, figurative and landscape subjects. For these exhibits I frame my paintings like landscape paintings, not like colored drawings and I think that helps with their appeal. Here's how the two from this year are framed:
Winter's Light, La Jolla Shores, plein air watercolor.
'Winter's Light, La Jolla Shores". Plein Air Watercolor, painted on location. 10 1/2 X13 1/2
In February we traveled to La Jolla Shores to celebrate a birthday. The afternoon sunshine and coastal mist was a subject I am very inexperienced with, I tried to capture the glow and atmosphere.
