At Lake Calavera in 7th Lpapa Waterworks Exhibit

At Lake Calavera 12 x 16 Plein air watercolor will be on exhibit online and at the Lpapa gallery in Laguna Beach.

The vegetation on this hill got so lush and beautiful with all the rain we had last winter. It was a pleasure to be able to wax this one , the process seemed to make the colors richer.

This painting has been juried into the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association " Salute Our National Parks" exhibit, July 3 to July 31, 2017 at the Forest and Ocean Gallery 480 Ocean Ave, Laguna Beach CA.
I need to thank my parents for being intrepid travelers and my Dad who has an artist's eye for the source material. I don't recall ever painting a waterfall and it was a great one to paint.

Looking North 16 x 20

Summit from Curry Point 18 x 24

Signature Membership in the Laguna Plein air Painters Association is a challenge to achieve and I am happy to be a part of this organization with strong ties to the plein air tradition in California.

Worth mentioning, this organization has close ties to the Irvine Museum Executive Director, Mr Jean Stern and he selected these works. There are 16 Women Artists included, a higher proportion than usual.

LPAPA "Best of Plein Air" entries

I  entered one as a tribute to LPAPA founder Ken Auster, whose recognition of it with an award meant a great deal to me, since he was one of the artists I admire most.

Hill at Carmel Valley in 11th Best of Plein Air LPAPA Opening June 6th,6 to 9 pm

'Hill at Carmel Valley" 12 x 16 was JUST painted at the Carmel Art Festival, I entered it in this because there is a very tight turn around, you really have to enter things that are already framed in order to ship them immediately..
One thing  I am happy to see is the robust showing by watercolorists in this: Linda Gunn, Robin Rogers Cloud, Larry Cannon and Patti Clifton as well as fellow works on paper pastelist Clark Mitchell. The entire exhibt is online at

and runs until June 21st.

Signature Artist Member of the Month, LPAPA

http://www.lpapa.org/features/2014november/robin_purcell/paint01.html

I was happy to be selected as a Signature Artist member of Laguna Plein Air Painters last year about this time.
LPAPA just recognized me as the Signature Artist Member of the month for November.

When I moved to Northern California in the mid 90's, I fell in love with the plein air painters from Southern California both the turn of the century and the contemporary landscape painters doing wonderful work so this means a lot to me!

They selected a great assortment of my paintings to feature on the page that's linked above, please check it out and explore the wonderful programs LPAPA has for artists and collectors.
